Google Unveils a Simpler, More Human Brand Voice for the AI Age
Internal style guides are being rewritten to sound less like a machine and more like a helpful coworker.

Google is rewriting the language rules behind its products, cutting hedging phrases and capability boasts in favour of plain instruction and clearer admissions of uncertainty.
The guide reportedly bans several phrases that had crept into AI product copy, including constructions that imply the system understands the user's intentions.
Writers have been told to prefer short verbs, name limitations directly, and avoid enthusiasm the product cannot back up.
The change is partly defensive: overclaiming in AI interfaces has become a reputational and regulatory liability. It is also practical — clearer copy reduces support volume.
