Advertising Week Hires a Creator to Run the Room, Bets $100 Million on the Rest of Them Showing Up
Advertising Week New York opened Monday by naming creator-turned-mogul Dhar Mann its first chief creator officer and launching a $100 million matchmaking push between creators and CMOs. The message: the industry is done talking about the creator economy and ready to write checks.

Advertising Week New York kicked off its four-day run on October 5, 2026, by naming content creator Dhar Mann its first-ever chief creator officer, a title that would have sounded like a gimmick five years ago and now reads like a hiring necessity. Mann will run the event's creator programming, including creator karaoke and curated dinners, while also pushing brands to actually spend against it.

The centerpiece is the "$100 Million Creator Challenge," a series of 30-minute sessions on the event's Great Minds stage pairing top creators directly with brand CMOs to close real deals on the spot. Advertising Week global president Ruth Mortimer described two tracks running in parallel: "One is a softer approach, which is relationship building, getting people in the right rooms together... one is genuinely matchmaking and setting up business deals," she said, while framing the broader moment bluntly: "We're all going to live with uncertainty forever."
Roughly 2,500 creators are attending this year, up from 1,000 in 2025, alongside major players like The Trade Desk and American Express hosting their own activations through the week. The bet, in plain terms, is that creators are no longer a panel topic at ad conferences; they are a budget line, and Advertising Week wants to be the place where that line gets signed.
