Amazon's Prime Day Starts Tomorrow, and Target and Walmart Didn't Wait to Be Asked
Prime Big Deal Days opens tomorrow. Target and Walmart made sure you won't be able to tell whose sale you're actually shopping.

Amazon's fall sale, officially called Prime Big Deal Days, runs October 6 and 7, opening at 12:01 a.m. PDT and reserved for Prime members only, with membership starting at $14.99 a month (discounted tiers exist for young adults and government-assistance recipients). Amazon is spreading deals across more than 35 categories, dropping new ones three times a day, and leaning hard into Halloween clearance and early holiday gifting to get a jump on the next eight weeks of spending.
Target isn't waiting for an invitation. Its own Circle Deal Days run the same October 6 and 7 window, with early access starting October 5 for Circle 360 members and up to 40 percent off fall apparel, beauty, toys, and tech. New sign-ups get 15 percent off a first purchase and up to $50 in Circle Rewards, timed to land before the sale even opens.
Walmart is playing the longer game: its October Deals stretch a full seven days, October 5 through 11, require no membership at all, and span everything from Dyson and Shark home gear to Coach handbags and Beautiful by Drew Barrymore skincare. Three of the country's biggest retailers have now claimed the same seven-day stretch as must-shop inventory, which says less about any single one of them than about how compressed the holiday calendar has gotten.
