Apple Watch Series 12 moves onto Whoop and Oura's turf
Starting at $399, the new watch adds a 0 to 10 Readiness Score and more frequent HRV readings. It reached stores September 18.

Apple announced the Apple Watch Series 12 on September 9. It starts at $399 and adds a new health-sensing system, a 0 to 10 Readiness Score, and more frequent heart rate variability readings. It reached stores September 18, according to Apple Newsroom.
Readiness scoring is the language Whoop and Oura built their brands on. Apple now ships it on a watch that also handles everything else on your wrist.
For the specialists, the pitch has to get sharper. Owning recovery matters less when the generalist offers a version of the same score, so depth of insight becomes the argument, because breadth now belongs to Apple.
