AXIS Turns 25 and Makes Its Own History the Campaign
The Bermuda specialty insurer, born out of the September 11 void in the market, launched a yearlong global brand campaign built on "25 moments" and a silver anniversary identity system.

AXIS Capital was formed in the aftermath of September 11, when the market ran short of specialist capacity and four Bermuda start-ups were created to fill the gap. Twenty-five years later, the company has turned that origin story into a marketing platform.
On September 8 the insurer unveiled a global brand campaign marking its silver anniversary, spotlighting its focus on specialty underwriting leadership. The company, now carrying $35 billion in total assets and $7.7 billion in total capital as of year-end 2025, is treating the milestone as a positioning opportunity rather than a party.
"AXIS was founded at a time of profound uncertainty, when customers and brokers needed specialist capacity, underwriting expertise, and the confidence to move quickly in complex markets," said president and chief executive Vince Tizzio. "Twenty-five years later, that purpose continues to define who we are."
The campaign is a continuation of the refreshed identity AXIS Capital introduced in November 2023, which is the discipline most anniversary work lacks. Rather than commissioning a one-off look, the company extended its existing system with silver anniversary iconography, then built a yearlong multilayered program around it: multimedia advertising, multichannel and digital marketing celebrating "25 moments" of specialty leadership, a "25/Strong" internal engagement effort, and an updated tagline.
The internal component is the tell. Specialty insurance is sold by underwriters and brokers, not by billboards, so an anniversary campaign that does not move the people writing the business is decoration. Tizzio said the company mined its own archives for stories of colleagues who found opportunity in uncertainty, which gives the sales force something to repeat that is not a statistic.
For a sector where differentiation usually comes down to appetite and ratings, connecting a founding purpose to a current promise is a reasonable use of a birthday. The risk is that "25 years of specialty" reads as a claim about longevity when the market rewards claims about capacity.
