Birkenstock's New Clog, Max Mara's First Perfume, and a Bourbon-Spiked Sausage

Ten brands dropped something new this week, and the throughline is that "heritage" now means mining the archive for a new SKU, not a new tagline.

Birkenstock is leaning on the fact that its Boston clog started life in the 1970s as the Kork-Clog before earning its current name in the 1980s, using that pedigree to launch the Naples Wrapped, a moccasin-inspired take on the closed-toe, cork-latex silhouette, debuting in a suede Taupe colorway. Max Mara, meanwhile, finally has a signature scent: Le Parfum, developed under an exclusive license with Shiseido and built around the house's iconic 101801 coat. Perfumers Marie Salamagne and Fabrice Pellegrin landed on a floral-woody blend of tuberose, vanilla, sandalwood, cedar, and benzoin, in a 90% natural-origin, vegan, refillable formula that does more actual work than most fashion-house fragrance launches bother to do.

The beauty aisle kept moving too: M·A·C launched the Studio Radiance Skin Tint Stick, a skincare-makeup hybrid that's 73% skincare ingredients chasing the early-1990s skin look; NUXE expanded its Hair Prodigieux and Rêve de Miel lines with a fermented pink camellia scalp serum, a heat-protecting leave-in cream, and a honey-vanilla lip gloss; Keren Bartov rolled out an Ultra Peptide Serum promising visible results in 28 days; and SABON introduced Minty Spark Yuzu across a body gel, scrub, and shower oil.

Then there's the food and drink cluster, where this roundup gets genuinely fun: a new premium sausage brand from chef Moshik Roth opened its first location at Menora Arena, Zoglobeck launched a chicken-and-beef "Bavarian" sausage seasoned with nutmeg and caraway, Milotal rolled out air-fryer-ready fries, an import called Oranjeboom landed at three strong-lager ABV tiers up to 16%, Barilla shipped a Formula 1-branded pasta shaped like race car wheels, and Royal Canin launched its "Best Start in Life" nutrition campaign for puppy and kitten owners. None of these ten brands talked to each other before launch week, but all of them made the same bet: dig into whatever already made you credible and ship it as something new, rather than invent a new story from scratch.
