Birks has named Montreal-born actress Sophie Nélisse as its newest brand ambassador, fronting a national campaign that leans on the one asset a nearly 150-year-old jeweller can't be out-spent on: time.

The campaign launches with new additions to the Birks Dare to Dream collection and will run across the coming year, extending into the Birks Snowflake and Birks Beekeeper lines. Through photography and film it frames jewellery as a connective object between generations — pieces that accrue meaning from the people, places and moments attached to them rather than from the carat weight.

Nélisse, known internationally for Yellowjackets and Heated Rivalry, gives Birks Group Inc. a recognisable Canadian face with reach well beyond Canada. "Growing up, Birks was always one of those names that felt timeless," she said. "So now being part of their story feels incredibly meaningful."

That is the strategic tension the work is built to solve. Heritage jewellers spend heavily to stay familiar to younger shoppers without discounting the authority that makes them worth paying for. Rather than chase novelty, Birks is casting an ambassador who can credibly say the brand was already in the room — a nostalgia play aimed at consumers who don't yet have their own Birks blue box.

Katie Reusch, head of marketing and communications at Birks Group Inc., is overseeing the rollout, with the ambassadorship positioned as a multi-collection relationship rather than a one-season endorsement.
