Chelsea Puts a Stablecoin on the Shirt: Circle's USDC Takes the Front at Stamford Bridge

Chelsea FC has solved its long-running front-of-shirt vacancy with a bet on crypto's most corporate face. The London club announced a principal partnership with Circle, the issuer of the USDC stablecoin, that will place USDC branding across the men's, women's and academy kits beginning with the 2026/27 season.

The deal makes Circle the club's official stablecoin partner and continues crypto's methodical march back into premium sports inventory — this time with a regulated, dollar-pegged asset rather than the volatile token plays that burned clubs and fans in the last cycle. A shirt that once carried airlines and telecoms now advertises internet money with a balance sheet.

For Chelsea FC, the announcement ends a commercially awkward stretch in which the men's team repeatedly started seasons without a front-of-shirt sponsor, a gap that reportedly cost the club tens of millions in unrealized revenue. A full-portfolio deal covering all three squads signals the club held out for a number it liked.

For the broader sponsorship market, the message is sharper: the Premier League's front-of-shirt real estate — soon to be vacated by gambling brands under the league's 2026/27 betting-logo ban — is being refilled by fintech. Expect more clubs to shop their chests to payments and stablecoin players before the season is out.
