Coach turns its fall campaign into a listening party

"Live Your Story" pairs Elle Fanning with four musicians and a first-of-its-kind Spotify partnership, betting Gen Z will trade screen time for a scene.

Coach has spent three years arguing that a handbag is a form of self-portraiture. On September 16, the brand pushed the idea outward, into rooms full of strangers.

"Live Your Story," the house's Fall 2026 campaign, moves Coach's ongoing exploration of identity from the solitary act of self-expression to the messier, riskier business of connection. The vehicle is music. The medium, in a first-of-its-kind global cultural partnership, is Spotify.

Five global ambassadors carry the work. Actress Elle Fanning anchors four films, each co-starring and soundtracked by a musician with a distinct regional gravity: PinkPantheress, SOYEON, Lilas, and Shan Yichun. The casting reads less like a celebrity roster than a playlist, which is precisely the point.

"At Coach, we start with the people, not the category," said Joon Silverstein, Coach's chief marketing officer. In conversations with Gen Z consumers, the brand heard a tension it decided to build a campaign around: a stated desire to spend less time behind screens and more time in the same physical room, paired with an honest admission that showing up as yourself in real life takes nerve.

Music, Silverstein argued, resolves that tension better than most cultural products. "It is deeply personal — a soundtrack to identity and emotion — but it also creates a shared language that helps people find one another and feel they belong."

The commerce is threaded through rather than bolted on. The campaign spotlights Coach's Tabby bag, including five special-edition versions inspired by the starring talent, alongside a new collection of concert ticket bag charms designed to be swapped, collected, and explained to whoever asks. Personalized playlists and in-person experiences extend the platform across global markets.

What Coach is really selling here is proximity. The brand's stated purpose — the Courage to Be Real — has always risked sounding like a poster in a guidance counselor's office. Tying it to live music, where the awkwardness of being seen is the price of admission, gives the line something to do.

It also plants Coach squarely in the territory luxury peers keep circling: culture as distribution. A Spotify partnership does not merely place a song behind a film; it hands the brand a permanent surface inside a daily habit. For a label whose growth story has rested on winning young shoppers without discounting its way there, that surface may prove more valuable than any single bag.
