Coca-Cola Is Sneaking Prebiotic Fiber Into Coke Zero, Sprite, and Fresca

Coca-Cola is adding six grams of prebiotic fiber to three of its best-known names: Coca-Cola Zero Sugar, Sprite Zero Sugar, and Fresca. A pilot launch starts at the end of October in parts of New York, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania before any wider rollout.

The move is a direct answer to the better-for-you soda category that Olipop and PepsiCo-owned Poppi built largely without Coca-Cola in the room. Coca-Cola already dipped a toe in with Simply Pop under its Simply juice brand in early 2025; this is the first time the fiber treatment is landing on the flagship names people actually grew up drinking. Shakir Monin, Coca-Cola's president of marketing for North America, said "innovation starts with the consumer," which is corporate for: people want the soda they like to also pretend to be good for them.

It's part of a broader 2027 slate that includes a zero-sugar Vitamin Water grape flavor loaded with vitamins, a Core Power banana flavor, and a Mr. Pibb variant with black currant and extra caffeine. But the headline is the prebiotic fiber landing in cans that already sit in nearly every refrigerator in the country, a far cheaper way to chase a health trend than launching a new brand and hoping anyone notices.
