Dubai Fashion Week Opens With 3D-Printed Handbags and a Kuwaiti Jacket Buttoned in Actual Mud
The spring/summer 2027 season kicked off with Touchless's 3D-printed bags drawing Selfridges' attention, and designers across the Gulf and South Asia closing out the runway.

Dubai Fashion Week's spring/summer 2027 season opened this week with Touchless, a Bahraini label, showing 3D-printed handbags that have already caught the eye of British Vogue, Selfridges, Level Shoes, and Fashion Trust Arabia, not to mention a cameo in the Bridgerton universe. A preview showroom in Dubai Design District gave emerging Gulf designers a stage before the main runway even opened.
The runway itself leaned hard into regional craft with a modern twist. Kuwait's Kochylia reworked trench coats and tuxedo jackets with handmade porcelain buttons made from actual Kuwaiti mud, while Yousef Al Jasmi, who has designed for Lady Gaga, opened the show in crystal-encrusted dresses with strands cascading from the shoulders. India's Pallavi Puri made her Dubai Fashion Week debut with "Beyond Borders," a collection mixing Indian beadwork with equestrian motifs, with Lisa Haydon opening the show and Cyrine Abdel Nour closing it in a bridal look.
Between handbags printed by machine and buttons fired from literal mud, the Gulf's fashion scene is making a pretty clear argument: craft and technology are not opposites, they are just different ends of the same showroom.
