Equativ Becomes One of ChatGPT's First Ad-Tech Partners
The French ad-tech firm is plugging brands into OpenAI's chatbot with a purpose-built targeting tool, betting that a billion weekly conversations are also a billion new ad impressions.

Equativ announced Monday, September 22, 2026, that it has become a technology partner of ChatGPT Ads, joining a small group of ad-tech companies now authorized to place brand advertising inside OpenAI's chatbot. The deal gives Equativ's clients a paid lane into a product OpenAI has spent the year turning into a commerce surface: ChatGPT now reaches more than 1 billion weekly active users and fields 2.5 billion prompts a day, with roughly one in five conversations showing shopping intent, according to OpenAI's own figures.
The centerpiece is Equativ Ad Studio, a proprietary full-funnel tool the company built to recommend targeting and creative strategy specific to ChatGPT's format, matching messaging to where a user sits between discovery and purchase intent rather than treating a chatbot ad slot like a banner. "This transition represents a natural step forward for Equativ," said Chief Commercial Officer Ben Skinazi, framing it as a continuation of the company's consumer-centric ad strategy rather than a pivot.
The rollout covers Belgium, Brazil, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Mexico, Poland, Spain, the United Kingdom, and the United States, with more markets described as forthcoming. It lands amid a busy year of ChatGPT ad expansion: OpenAI has already pushed the format into India, added exclusion targeting for advertisers, and reportedly crossed a $1 billion ad run rate in under 200 days. Equativ's arrival doesn't change OpenAI's own ad product so much as widen the pipes into it, proof that the fastest way to sell inside a chatbot is still through the ad-tech vendors who already know how to sell everywhere else.
