Gap and French label A.P.C. have met in the middle, somewhere between Parisian restraint and American campus style. Their new 37-piece collection spans menswear, womenswear, and accessories, with prices running from $28 to $328.

The collaboration starts where both brands are most comfortable: denim and dependable wardrobe staples. The men’s assortment includes Japanese denim jackets and relaxed straight jeans, while the women’s side features 100% cotton High Rise Stride and Low Rise ’90s Loose jeans. Shaped and Icon Denim Jackets carry archive-inspired graphics, and an Extra Heavyweight Hoodie recasts Gap’s familiar arch logo through A.P.C.’s quieter lens.

Around those anchors, the collection moves into tailored outerwear, Oxford shirts, knitwear, and mod-influenced matching sets in cashmere, wool, and corduroy. Sailor stripes and utility details run throughout, while the accessories pair the reworked Gap arch with A.P.C. typography. The reference points are 1960s cinema, music, and art, but the result is less costume than calibration: familiar American sportswear with some of its volume turned down.

“We were drawn to A.P.C. because of their distinctive Parisian perspective and commitment to timeless essentials,” Gap CEO Mark Breitbard said. A.P.C. founder Jean Touitou described the balancing act more neatly: “There is a chic way to be casual and a casual way to be chic. The research of that balance is at the heart of this collaboration.”

A short film called “The Long Way” carries the idea into Montmartre. Directed by Karl Cannone and starring emerging rapper ian alongside DJ Paloma Le Friant, the campaign gives the clothes a suitably cinematic Paris backdrop without losing the easy, worn-in quality that makes the partnership plausible.

The collection launched September 18 at 9 a.m. ET, following early access for Gap Encore members and cardholders the day before. It is available online, at roughly 10 selected Gap stores across the U.S. and Canada, at A.P.C.’s Mercer Street store, and across international markets including Japan, the U.K., Europe, Turkey, China, Mexico, Australia, and the Middle East.

For Gap, the collaboration is another attempt to make its archive feel current without treating nostalgia as the entire product. For A.P.C., it is a chance to apply its precise, understated worldview at a much larger scale. The sweet spot is exactly where Touitou placed it: casual enough to live in, chic enough to notice.
