Govee Hires Sarah Michelle Gellar to Keep Your Halloween Lights From Looking Tacky
The smart-lighting brand's new national campaign bets that restraint, not inflatable skeletons, is what actually scares the neighbors.

Govee is done watching homeowners drape every inch of their lawn in orange string lights. The smart outdoor-lighting brand's new campaign, "Turn Up the Spooky. Slay Halloween.," recruits Sarah Michelle Gellar, an actress who has made a career out of surviving things that go bump in the night, to tell America it is doing Halloween lighting wrong.
The nationwide TV spot leans on Govee's DreamView technology, which syncs multiple fixtures across a home's roofline, trees, and facade into one coordinated scene, plus an AI Lighting Bot 2.0 that turns a prompt like "moonlit and mysterious" into an actual lighting plan. Gellar's on-camera advice is blunt: pick one architectural feature and commit to it, rather than lighting up the whole house and hoping something lands.
It's a tidy bit of positioning for a category that has mostly competed on brightness and bulb count. By handing the creative reins to someone synonymous with controlled horror rather than chaos, Govee is arguing that its technology, not the trick-or-treater's candy budget, is the differentiator this Halloween.
