Miu Miu Builds an Entire Collection Around Wearing the Wrong Shoes on Purpose

Miu Miu Builds an Entire Collection Around Wearing the Wrong Shoes on Purpose

Miu Miu built its Spring/Summer 2027 collection around a meme, more or less. Miuccia Prada took the "Wrong Shoe Theory" trend, Gen Z's habit of deliberately pairing outfits with footwear that should not match, and turned it into an entire runway language of sportswear colliding with formalwear. The idea, per the brand, comes from "elements of beauty, refinement, and elegance" applied to clothes that were never meant to sit still.

The looks lean into that friction on purpose: rhinestone sports bras layered under track jackets, athletic joggers paired with tailored blazers and leather flip-flops, sarong-style bottoms under silky blouses, and plaid midi skirts worn with summery scarf tops. New it-bags, including oversized boxy duffels and snakeskin satchels, round out an accessories line built for a wardrobe that refuses to pick a lane.

The more interesting move might be the collaboration with Wrangler on heritage denim pieces, part of Miu Miu's circular design push, paired with a pitch for shoppers to recreate the looks with thrifted pieces rather than buying everything new. For a house built on precision tailoring, that is a notably scrappy instruction to give its customers.
