Pinterest Poaches Its Next CFO Straight Out of Amazon's Finance Bench
James Dibbo trades Amazon's entertainment and ads unit for Pinterest's balance sheet, taking over from Julia Brau Donnelly on October 26.

Pinterest has named James Dibbo its next Chief Financial Officer, pulling him out of Amazon, where he most recently ran finance for the company's global entertainment, advertising, and corporate development arm. He starts October 26, taking over from Julia Brau Donnelly, who stays on in an advisory capacity through the end of the month to hand off the books.
Dibbo's resume reads like a tour of brands that needed a finance fix: CFO stints at P.F. Chang's, Tesco, and BT Group, plus a start at PwC in London. CEO Bill Ready called him "an exceptional finance leader with the operating rigor, strategic range and growth mindset that will greatly benefit Pinterest in our next chapter," which is the kind of quote every incoming CFO gets, but the Amazon pedigree specifically signals what Pinterest wants: someone fluent in advertising economics at a scale Pinterest is still chasing.
The hire matters more than a routine finance-seat swap because Pinterest's whole investment case now rests on ad revenue growth holding up against slowing user growth. Bringing in a CFO who spent a decade inside Amazon's ad machine is a bet that the next chapter of Pinterest's story gets written in monetization, not reach.
