Ferrero Repackages Power Crunch to Sell Protein as a Light Snack

The protein aisle has spent three years competing on grams. Power Crunch is now competing on weight — the kind you feel after eating.

The wafer-based bar brand, now inside the Ferrero portfolio, unveiled a relaunch on Wednesday built around refreshed packaging, a refined formula and a new campaign platform, **A Lighter Way to Protein**. Each bar carries 12 to 14 grams of protein in what the company frames as a crisp, airy format rather than a dense one.

"Fall is often a season of fresh starts and new routines, making it the perfect moment to reintroduce Power Crunch to consumers," said Daniel Cutchin, general manager of Power Crunch at Ferrero USA. "Power Crunch has always stood out with its uniquely light wafer format."

Read as brand strategy, it is a flanking move. The functional-nutrition category — Quest Nutrition, Barebells and the rest — has driven protein claims to the top of the pack and made the products taste like the claim. Power Crunch is arguing that the ceiling on grams has been reached and the opening is texture, not tonnage.

Ferrero's involvement explains the confidence. The Nutella and Kinder owner has been buying its way into American shelf space for a decade, and it knows how to make a confection-adjacent product legible to shoppers who do not think of themselves as athletes. Positioning a protein bar as an afternoon treat rather than post-gym fuel widens the occasion — and moves the fight from the supplement wall to the checkout lane.
