Rivian is now the second-largest individual EV brand in the United States. The company delivered 19,248 vehicles in the third quarter of 2026, behind only Tesla, according to Motor1 as relayed by UA.News. Cox Automotive's tally is a near match at 19,239. A year ago Rivian ranked tenth. Deliveries rose 45.7 percent from the third quarter of 2025, and Cox puts the brand's share of the US EV market at 7.2 percent.

The mix tells the story. Commercial vans lead: 8,469 EDV 500 and EDV 700 units, up 220.9 percent year over year, which is more than any single passenger model. By my math that is roughly 44 percent of the quarter's volume. The vans serve Amazon and other logistics and corporate customers. On the passenger side, the R1S SUV delivered 5,582 units, the R2 delivered 3,456 in its first full quarter on sale, and the R1T pickup delivered 1,732.

The R2 is currently sold only in its more expensive Performance version. Motor1 reports that more affordable versions are coming and could cost about $50,000.

Rivian has passed Chevrolet as an individual EV brand. The combined EV deliveries of Chevrolet, Cadillac, and GMC under General Motors still exceed Rivian's total. Through the first nine months of 2026, Rivian deliveries are up 26.8 percent, including 17,259 R1S SUVs and 15,685 commercial vans.
