Silvana Armani Closes Milan Fashion Week by Quietly Editing Her Uncle Out of His Own House

Giorgio Armani closed out Milan Fashion Week's spring 2027 season with Silvana Armani's debut collection as creative director, the house's first under new leadership since her uncle's death a year ago. She used the moment to modernize rather than memorialize: gone were the smiling models and signature hats Giorgio favored, replaced by wide-legged trousers, slinky tops, sequined jackets, and sheer dresses built from the luxurious, fluid fabrics the house has always leaned on.

The show closed a fashion week that saw several houses use their finale slots to signal change. Bottega Veneta's Louise Trotter leaned into transitional lightness with fringe and crochet, Gucci's Demna offered up equestrian polish and 1990s glamour in the same show, and Diesel's Glenn Martens closed out his tenure with reworked denim before departing for Maison Margiela.

For Giorgio Armani, the subtlety of Silvana's edit is the story. Rather than a loud reintroduction, the house chose evolution over eulogy, betting that customers who spent decades buying into one designer's vision will follow a familiar surname into a new one.
