SITKA Gear Is Turning Obsession Into a Twenty-Year Brand Platform
Most outdoor brands sell you on skill. SITKA just built its biggest campaign ever around admitting you have a problem.

SITKA Gear, the Bozeman, Montana-based technical hunting apparel company owned by W.L. Gore & Associates, the maker of GORE-TEX fabric, unveiled "For the Obsessed," one of the largest brand investments in its 20-year history. The platform leans into obsession as a selling point rather than something to downplay, arguing that the fixation serious hunters and anglers bring to scouting, gear, and the hunt itself is the actual product. It spans streaming TV, YouTube, social, print, and out-of-home, concentrated around SITKA's retail stores and major outdoor markets.
The campaign is paired with "The Most Obsessed," a nationwide contest run with mapping platform onX that lets fans nominate the most obsessed hunters and anglers they know at sitkagear.com. Winners get premium gear, onX memberships running from three months to a lifetime, and a one-year stint as an official SITKA product tester, giving feedback on prototypes before anyone else sees them. "Just like our fans, we've obsessively focused on every detail for the last 20 years," said Michael Vollkommer, SITKA's director of community and PR.
The platform launched alongside three new products built around the same logic: an Ascent Shoe meant to work as both a hunting boot and an everyday sneaker, plus a Brush Pant and Pursuit Pant engineered for specific terrain rather than general use. It is a deliberate bet that a category built on technical specificity sells better when the brand stops hiding how niche its customer actually is and starts naming it as a badge of honor.
