Starbucks Finally Sets Red Cup Day for November 17, and the Bearista Cup Comes Back Twice

Starbucks confirmed on Monday, October 26, that Red Cup Day 2026 falls on Tuesday, November 17, officially settling a guessing game that had the internet convinced it would land a week earlier. The company has not yet released the cup design or the full list of qualifying drinks, saying only that "the design of the cup and more details will be announced closer to the date." The promotion, running since 2018, still works the same basic way: order a handcrafted holiday beverage at a participating store and get a free reusable cup, while supplies last.

The bigger news might be what is happening to the Bearista Cold Cup, the glass tumbler that turned last year's launch into a resale market with lines, reported scuffles, and eBay listings running into the hundreds of dollars. Starbucks is not simply restocking it. Starting November 10, it will sell a "surprise collection," boxed mystery Bearista cups that customers cannot identify until they open them, with supply described as limited. The original, identifiable Bearista cups do not return until December 1, which Starbucks is framing as a holiday-gifting play rather than a repeat of last year's free-for-all.

All of this lands on top of a holiday menu that officially launches November 5: new Tiramisu Velvet Latte and Cold Brew drinks topped with mascarpone cold foam, an Apple Pomegranate Refresher, and a coconut-milk Snowy Apple version, alongside the usual returning lineup of Peppermint Mocha, Caramel Brulee Latte, Sugar Cookie Latte, and Gingerbread Chai. Starbucks turned a single cup giveaway into a three-week release calendar, menu on the 5th, mystery cups on the 10th, Red Cup Day on the 17th, and originals on December 1, which is either smart merchandising or an admission that one chaotic morning a year is no longer enough.
