Tinder Rebrands for the First Time in Almost a Decade, and Swaps 'Happily Ever After' for 'Happily TBD'

Porto Rocha gave the flame a sharper edge, added blue and green to a palette that used to live entirely in red and orange, and invented a fictional dating columnist named T to carry the new voice. Whether the tone matches a product that also scans camera rolls for "chemistry" is another question.

Tinder redesigned itself for the first time in nearly a decade, and the flame got sharper for it. Studio Porto Rocha reworked the icon for more edge and wit, shifted the wordmark from lowercase to all caps, added a bold new serif headline face, and expanded a palette that used to live entirely in warm reds and oranges to include blue and green, meant to cover more of what dating actually feels like.

The bigger swing is a voice. Porto Rocha invented "T," a fictional dating-columnist persona meant to sound, per strategy and copy director Natalee Ranii-Dropcho, "like a kind of trusted dating columnist," and retired the line "happily ever after" in favor of "happily TBD." The visual system backs it up with a deliberately mixed bag of real photos, anime stills, fine art, and meme-style images rather than one literal picture of what a date looks like, a bet designer Yedo Han says reflects "the varied visual culture familiar to Gen Z users."

The timing says more than the palette does. Paying subscribers dropped from 11.1 million in 2022 to 8.77 million in 2025, nearly half of Gen Z singles deleted a dating app altogether in 2024, and burnout is the word researchers keep landing on. A warmer voice will not fix that on its own, and critics have already flagged the gap between a brand promising honesty through a fictional advice columnist and a product that also wants to scan camera rolls for "chemistry," a feature early reactions have called "creepy" rather than charming.
