Twinings Puts Tea Ahead of Everything Else, Literally
The 300-plus-year-old tea brand unveils "But First, Tea," a multi-agency platform that rebrands the daily cup as a wellbeing ritual instead of a coffee-break afterthought.

Twinings wants to be the thing you do before the thing, not the thing you settle for after the coffee is gone. On October 1, the tea brand launched "But First, Tea," a long-term platform built around the idea that tea belongs at the start of a reset, not the tail end of one. The campaign spans TV, out-of-home, paid social, retail media, and creator content, fronted by Twinings' Sleep, Glow, Digest, and Moment of Calm infusions plus its Sparkling Tea line.
Marketing director Gill Close framed it as a well-being play aimed at younger drinkers: "We believe tea has a key role to play in a world where people are looking for simple, positive ways to invest in their wellbeing," she said, adding the goal is "more reasons to choose it throughout their day." The agency roster backs up the ambition: Starcom on media, Leo Burnett on creative, Publicis Commerce on retail activation, and MHP Group, Splendid Communications, and Whalar splitting earned, social, and creator duties.
It is a crowded pitch. Every energy drink, adaptogen tonic, and sparkling water brand on the shelf is already selling well-being, and Twinings is arriving with a bagged-tea legacy it now has to make feel urgent rather than nostalgic. Still, "pause before you move on" is a cleaner territory than most CPG brands manage, and Twinings has the infusion lineup to back the claim with product, not just a tagline.
