U2 Just Made Its Tour Presale the Real Headline
U2 announced three stadium shows in Latin America, its first tour since 2019, and timed the rollout around a new single and a presale calendar stretched across more than a week.

U2 announced "The Greatest Show on Earth World Tour" on Thursday, its first stadium dates since the Joshua Tree Tour wrapped in Mumbai back in 2019. The tour opens in Mexico City on February 23, 2027, with Beck opening, and for now only three cities are confirmed: Mexico City, Sao Paulo, and Buenos Aires, with European and North American dates promised "in the coming weeks."
The timing isn't an accident. The announcement arrived alongside a new single, "The Greatest Show on Earth," co-written with Brian Eno and billed as the third cut off U2's upcoming album, Carnaval De Luz, due November 13. Tickets roll out across five separate presale waves over eight days, from a Feedback Group presale on October 19 through general on-sale in Mexico City on October 23, a staggered drip designed to keep the band in headlines through the album's release date rather than burning the news in a single Tuesday morning.
It's an old trick dressed up as a world tour: fewer confirmed cities than fans expect creates more searches for the cities that aren't, and a presale calendar stretched across more than a week keeps "U2 tickets" trending well past the day of the actual announcement. The album drops three weeks after the first presale opens. By the time Carnaval De Luz streams, U2 will have already had eight separate news cycles to get there.
