Walmart Stretches Black Friday Into a 14-Day Marathon

Walmart isn't waiting for the day after Thanksgiving to start the discounting, and this year it's stretching the whole exercise even further. The retailer's 2026 holiday sales calendar runs three distinct events: early Black Friday deals from November 12 to 15, the core Black Friday sale from November 23 to 29, and Cyber Monday from November 30 to December 2, totaling 14 days of sales events against 10 last year.

Unlike its 2025 rollout, Walmart didn't attach specific products to the announcement this time, sticking instead to a general promise that thousands of gifts will be priced below $20. Walmart+ members get varying tiers of early access across the two Black Friday windows, which functions as both a loyalty perk and a subtle nudge toward the membership Walmart would very much like more shoppers to pay for before the holidays hit.

The longer runway fits a pattern retailers have been leaning into for years: compress the shopping season's urgency into a single day and you get a spike; stretch it across two weeks and you smooth out fulfillment strain while giving budget-conscious shoppers more chances to catch a deal before it's gone. With holiday retail spending expected to climb and every major chain fighting for the same wallet, 14 days of "sale" starts to look less like generosity and more like a war of attrition for who can keep shoppers' attention longest without burning them out first.
