Walmart Redesigns Great Value for the First Time in a Decade, and 10,000 Products Are Getting New Packaging

The retailer's flagship private label is getting a cleaner logo, consistent nutrition callouts, and a two-year rollout across food and consumables, starting with salty snacks. Nothing inside the bag is changing, Walmart says, just what it looks like on the shelf.

Walmart is giving Great Value its first real makeover in more than a decade, and it is not a small one. Roughly 10,000 food and consumables items, spanning cereal, chips, coffee, detergent, and frozen goods, will get an updated logo and a more consistent layout for nutrition information and benefit claims, in what the company is calling the most extensive private-brand update in its history.

The rollout starts with salty snacks and moves category by category over two years, which is less about design patience and more about not reprinting an entire supply chain's worth of packaging at once. "Great Value has earned customers' trust over decades, and while the brand is getting a fresh, modern look, what's inside isn't changing," said Scott Morris, senior vice president of private brands, drawing a clear line between the shelf and the formula.

The timing lines up with Walmart's broader private-brand push and a separate commitment to strip synthetic dyes from its food brands by January 2027, and it is a reasonable bet: Great Value already sits in 9 of 10 American households and claims to save families 35 percent a year, which means this refresh has less to prove on recognition and more to prove on looking like it belongs next to national brands rather than beneath them.
