WPP Puts Its Biggest Client Relationships in the Hands of a 20-Year Mindshare Lifer
Adam Gerhart becomes global chief client officer, inheriting the job from Jane Geraghty, who just moved over to run Landor and WPP's brand and design business.

WPP has promoted Adam Gerhart to global chief client officer, handing its most important client relationships to a 20-year veteran of its media arm. Gerhart spent more than two decades at Mindshare, with a brief stop at Publicis in 2004, before climbing into the holding company's top client-facing seat.
He inherits the role from Jane Geraghty, who now runs WPP's brand and design business and is doubling as global CEO of Landor. Tamina Plum, currently global client president at WPP Media, steps up to replace Gerhart as chief client officer there, a promotion Gerhart says he helped make happen.
It is the latest in a run of C-suite reshuffling at WPP, which has spent the past year trying to convince clients and investors that its turnaround has actual footing. Betting the agency's biggest accounts on a lifer who already knows every name in the room is a safer play than importing a stranger, but it also means WPP is still leaning on the same bench it has had for years.
