Le Creuset Sends the USS Enterprise to Dinner, and a Dutch Oven Goes to the Edge of Space

Le Creuset has sent the USS Enterprise to dinner. To mark the 60th anniversary of Star Trek, the cookware maker launched a limited-edition collection with Paramount Products & Experiences. The centerpiece is the Enterprise Round Dutch Oven, a 5.5-quart pot in French Grey with the NCC-1701 emerging from Le Creuset's signature rings on the lid and a Starfleet Delta where the knob usually sits. WERSM puts the Dutch oven at roughly $500.

The collection has 12 pieces, with prices starting at $35. Beyond the Dutch oven, it includes a Klingon braiser with a Trefoil knob, a Galileo Shuttlecraft rectangular casserole, Gorn, Balok, and Talosian mini cocottes at $60 each, a Spock mug, a Live Long & Prosper spoon rest ($55) and oven mitt ($40), and a Communi-Grater ($68). Existing Le Creuset owners can join in with $50 Starfleet and Klingon replacement knobs. The collection is available for a limited time at Le Creuset stores, lecreuset.com, and Williams Sonoma.

The launch came with a stunt. Working with Sent Into Space, Le Creuset flew the Enterprise Dutch oven more than 111,000 feet above Earth under a high-altitude balloon, according to WERSM. Chief marketing officer Christopher Scinto said the collection commemorates some of the franchise's most beloved symbols using the brand's signature craftsmanship and colors. WERSM's read is that the pieces are designed for adult kitchens, built to stay in use for decades rather than sit on a merchandise shelf.
