Therabody Wants to Sell You a $380 Device for the Tension Your Desk Job Gave You

Therabody launched two new devices on October 20: the $379.99 ThermNeck & Upper Back, a wearable combining kneading massage, heat, red light, and two built-in Theraguns aimed squarely at "tech neck," and the $199.99 ThermFace Massage, a heated percussive facial device that pairs with the Therabody app for guided jaw-pain and tension-headache routines. The company also rolled out holiday-colorway limited editions of its existing TheraFace Depuffing Wand and TheraFace Mask.

CEO Monty Sharma frames the launch around "the tension that modern life concentrates in the neck, back, jaw and face," while Therabody scientific advisory board member Dr. Dan Giordano pitches the devices as a way to stay consistent with recovery between physical therapy visits. Both products are available now on Therabody.com and at Best Buy, Target, Ulta, and Amazon.

Therabody built an entire wellness empire on convincing people their muscles need a $300 percussion gun, and the ThermNeck is the same bet applied to a new body part: name the ailment modern life supposedly causes, then sell the device that treats it. "Tech neck" didn't used to be a diagnosis; now it's a product category, and Therabody got there before anyone bothered to argue.
