Patta and Carhartt WIP Are Doing the Sequel Eleven Years After the Original Worked

The eight-piece "Hartt and Soul" capsule drops Friday, bolting collegiate appliqué and rivet detailing onto Carhartt WIP's workhorse silhouettes, and it is the clearest sign yet that Patta has turned brand collaborations into a standing habit rather than an occasional event.

Patta and Carhartt WIP Are Doing the Sequel Eleven Years After the Original Worked

Patta and Carhartt WIP are doing the sequel, eleven years after the original worked. The eight-piece capsule, called "Hartt and Soul," lands Friday, Oct. 23, at 10 a.m. in North America and 3 p.m. in the UK, where pricing has not yet been confirmed. The brief, per the collection notes, was simple: take Carhartt WIP's workhorse silhouettes and give them "a bit more heart."

In practice that means the OG Active Jacket and OG Double Knee Pant picking up collegiate-style appliqué graphics, a vest and cotton hoodie carrying a large logo across the back, and a Safety Orange half-zip sweater built around a workwear-inspired motif. Tees get a tonal "Hartt and Soul" print on the back plus a woven co-branded Square Label, a Watch Hat adds silver-tone rivets and the same label, and a shoulder bag rounds out the range. The campaign was shot by Accra-based photographer Nana Yaw Oduro against beaches, open plains, and sun-soaked walls, a backdrop that has nothing to do with either brand's workwear roots and everything to do with Patta's usual instinct to shoot its product somewhere its competitors would not think to look.

This is not a first date. Patta and Carhartt WIP first paired up in 2014 for "Wild at Hartt," a 10th-anniversary capsule of Chore Coats, Active Jackets, Vests, and Double Knee Pants in tan and black, some cut from original Dearborn canvas, launched at Goodhood in London behind a campaign directed by artist Joost Vandebrug. In between, Patta has kept the collaboration muscle warm with a 2022 three-way capsule alongside Awake NY sold only at its Milan store, and a Crocs clog earlier this year. Carhartt WIP, for its part, keeps lending the same workwear codes to a rotating cast of streetwear labels without diluting them, which is the harder trick: a brand can collaborate constantly and still look selective, as long as the thing being borrowed stays recognizable every time.
